Top 5 reasons why 2023 new year predictions become logical with Vedic Astrology

Vedic Astrology’s new year predictions help you know destiny’s plan because your life combines the self-determined and the pre-determined.

Why does the arrival of a new year make you yearn for new year predictions? Optimists hope for a clear weather forecast after a cloudy spell. But contrarians have a different view. How can the change of a single date in the calendar create magic? They are wary of falling prey to predictions.

The psycho-cultural tradition of infusing a new year with hope, and new year predictions on renewed opportunities, is driven by survival instincts. After 12 months of a roller-coaster ride, the 366th day allows you to take a break, stretch your legs, clear your mind, and review your life in a new prism.

What is the basis for new year predictions?

Can the date change make magic? Yes, if you acknowledge that your everyday circumstances are not just circumstantial but a result of the self-determined and the pre-determined. In other words, your actions respond to conditions not entirely in your control. Your efforts and outcomes may match; in either case, it’s about your karma.

So, when you hear the knock-knock on March 21, 2023, and open to door to a new year, you are on the continuum of ushering in another string of karmic occurrences for the next 12 months. Did I say March 22, 2023? You read it right. According to the Hindu calendar, March 21, 2023, is the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada or the start of the Hindu New Year, and Vedic Astrology’s new year predictions start from this date.

Why new year predictions have roots in logic

Before I go on to how we should embrace each new year, let’s learn about the Hindu timekeeping system. It is based on the Moon’s movement around the Earth, unlike the Gregorian calendar, which follows the Sun’s movements.

The Hindu calendar divides the year into 12 lunar months, each with 30 days. The Moon takes a month to orbit the Earth and complete its waxing and waning phases.

A day in the Hindu lunar month is called ‘tithi’; there are 30 tithis in a month, and it plays a role in new year predictions for your birth chart.

A tithi’s calculation is based on the difference between the Sun and Moon’s longitudinal angles. The time required for the Moon’s longitude to increase by 12 degrees over the Sun’s longitude defines a tithi.

Vedic astronomers were highly advanced, and they knew the Moon orbits the Earth elliptically and based their tithi calculations on this scientific fact. The duration of a tithi varies between 20 hours to 27 hours, which explains why two consecutive days can be of the same tithi sometimes.

The Hindu New Year is called Ugadi (Yuga+Adi). Yuga means era, Adi means first, and it starts a new cycle of events.

Back to new year predictions

Why does a new year bring a groundswell of hope? Vedic Astrology has the answer. Our life, dreams, hopes, pitfalls, pleasures, challenges, and triumphs drive us daily, month after month and through the years. Our life is like a river that can go into full spate, trickle out or dry up, and we hope the river flows smoothly each year. New year predictions can tell you how the river will flow for the next 12 months.

What determines how the river will flow? Our efforts and karma. As pragmatists will tell you, sometimes even the best efforts don’t open the door you knock on. At other times, luck seems to be your BFF. What’s going on? It’s simple: your horoscope is at work and new year predictions help you zero in on the exact time window.

The planets, their placements, strengths, promises, and warnings are all coded into your birth chart. It is your life’s beginning and closure and holds your roadmap. As they transit through the 12 houses of your horoscope and meet up with other planets for a hug or a face-off, they create conditions that can thrill you, cheese you off or push you into a corner. Every new year’s morning, you wake up to the first day of the rest of your life, hoping new year predictions will speak in your will favor. Hope is one emotion that never wilts with time; even the contrarians will admit to it in their more vulnerable moments.

Why planetary movements are the basis for new year predictions.

Let’s consider the significant planetary transits in 2023:
Jupiter enters Aries on April 22, and Saturn will move from Capricorn to Aquarius on January 16, 2023, and stay there until March 28, 2025. Rahu and Ketu will be transiting to Aries and Libra, respectively, from April 12, 2022, to October 30, 2023. On October 30, 2023, they will move to Pisces and Virgo, respectively. Add the transits and retrogrades of Mars, Mercury, and Venus to the planetary movements, and it is easy to see why new year predictions must consider these factors.

Depending on your Moon sign and the strength of your horoscope, you will feel the positive or challenging impact of transits.

Planets’ messages for new year predictions

Here are the planets’ messages for 2023:

Saturn: ‘Ready for some fantastic lessons? You will be thankful for them.

Jupiter: ‘Enough of the roller-coaster; let’s go easy now.’

Rahu: ‘I am bringing you a mixed bag in the company of Jupiter during 2023.’

Mars: ‘Mars-power drives 2023, so fasten your seat belt and pay attention to your GPS.”

Venus: “My transits are going to cherry-pick your birth chart possibilities, so are you ready?’

Mercury: ‘I will retrograde four times in 2023. Mark your calendar and cruise in the slow lane during those times.’ 🤔

New year predictions are not a fad; they are accurate indications of how your karma and efforts combine to help you taste success or hone your can-do edge. Vedic Astrology does not beat around the bush, and it is the clearest mirror.
