Most people are sold the wrong one

Search for rudrākṣa and you will find beads organised by what you want. This mukhī for wealth. That one for peace. Another for protection.

That is not how it is prescribed in this tradition, and it is why so many people wear one for years and feel nothing.

A rudrākṣa is chosen from your chart. There is a rule, it is not a secret, and it is set out further down this page so you can apply it yourself.

What rudrākṣa actually is

Rudra — a form of Śiva. Akṣa — tears.

The tears of Śiva.

Why that matters

What is the first thing any of us does on arriving in the world? We cry. It is the confirmation that we are here and alive.

In this tradition we are born because of rudana — crying. There is a quantum of it allotted to each of us, set by past karma. Everybody cries. If you are fortunate, you have a shoulder to cry on.

The rudrākṣa is the instrument the tradition gives for that.

The fifth house, and why rudrākṣa answers it

In a birth chart the fifth house is the house of insecurity. It is also the house of the future, of children, and it carries the tithi of your death.

Ask anyone what actually keeps them awake and the answer is almost always one of those — tomorrow, or the children.

It does not spare you because the placement is good

Even a fifth lord in exaltation or in its own house still does its work. You may be entirely secure financially and unsettled in every relationship you have. The insecurity does not disappear; it changes address.

That is why almost everyone has a use for this remedy, and why the mukhī has to be right.

Which rudrākṣa should you wear?

Your fifth lord’s house = your mukhī

Find your fifth house lord, and see which house it occupies. That number is your mukhī.

Fifth lord in the seventh houseSeven-mukhī
Fifth lord in the ninth houseNine-mukhī

And if you do not know your chart

A five-mukhī is the general recommendation. In this parampara, following the Śiva Purāṇa, the five-mukhī is the primary rudrākṣa and it serves most people well as a starting point.

Beyond the basic rule

There is more to it. Rudrākṣa is also prescribed against longevity, name and standing, and specific relationship difficulties, using factors beyond the fifth lord alone. That work belongs in a reading rather than on a web page, because it depends entirely on the chart in front of you.

Where ours come from

Sourced from Nepal, which produces the finest of these seeds, through connections built over two decades.

What is harder to find than a good bead is somebody who can tell you which one is yours. That part comes from the parampara, not from a supplier.

Is rudrākṣa as effective as a gemstone?

For most people, yes — and often it is the better first remedy.

A gemstone strengthens a specific planet, which means getting it wrong pushes in the wrong direction for years. A rudrākṣa addresses the fifth house directly, and the fifth house is where most people’s actual anxiety lives.

It is also considerably gentler to begin with, and considerably less expensive to be wrong about.

On the fact that this page exists

Elsewhere on this site you will read that nothing is sold to you in a consultation. That is true and it stays true.

No reading here has ever ended in a rudrākṣa being recommended so that one could be sold.

These pages exist because clients kept asking the same question — where do I get a real one, and which one? — and because most of what is sold online is chosen for you by a marketing category rather than a chart.

The rule above is on this page precisely so you can work out your own answer without asking anyone.

Getting one

Message the helpdesk. Tell us your fifth lord's placement if you know it, or your birth details if you do not.

You will be told which mukhī, what it costs, and how long it takes to source. If your chart suggests a different remedy would serve you better, you will be told that instead.

FAQs

No. If you know your fifth lord's house position, the rule above is enough. A reading matters when you want the fuller prescription — longevity, standing, relationships — which needs the whole chart.

It is the right question, and it is why sourcing matters more than price here. Ours come through established connections in Nepal and are checked before they go out.

Worn in the neck. Instructions are supplied with each one, along with the mantra and how it should be cared for.

Yes, and many people do. Which combination is appropriate depends on the chart.

Yes.
