When calamity strikes us, it can be a personal crisis or a larger crisis that affects everybody. The lockdown during COVID-19 in 2020 was unprecedented. Rarely has humanity been told to not get out of the house and remain in a state of suspended animation. What caused the lockdown in astrological terms?
It was because of the Kaala Sarpa Yog in transit. Kaala Sarpa occurs in a chart when the seven planets, Saturn, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Moon, and Sun, are hemmed between Rahu and Ketu. It creates what is known in Vedic Astrology as a Kaala Sarpa Yog.
The above chart for 2020 shows all planets hemmed between the nodes Rahu and Ketu, causing bandhana in Sanskrit. Bandhana means bondage or being tied up, circumstances akin to being in jail. Watch out for the 2022 Chaitra Shukla Pratipada chart which has similarities too.
The Kaala Sarpa yog in transit in 2020 created that sense of constriction:
We also need to understand at this point that different plants have different speeds of transit and hence different impacts on our lives.
